Kyle Lane has served on the front lines of stranding response for more than thirty years and considers it an honor to dedicate his life to marine wildlife. Kyle routinely contributes to field surveys, stranding events, health assessments and interventions. As Dolphins Plus Supervisor of Animal Care and Director of Sea Lion Training and Programming, Kyle also oversees operations of managed care facilities. Kyle is an expert boat pilot and has participated in numerous interventions, health assessments and population-ecology surveys.
Kyle joined the Dolphins Plus and DPMMR family in 1995 to assist in the rehabilitation of a juvenile spotted dolphin. Later, he would serve on the Board of Directors for the Marine Mammal Conservancy to help guide efforts involving marine mammal rescue and conservation. Today, Kyle serves as the Assistant Marine Mammal Stranding Coordinator for Dolphins Plus Marine Mammal Responder. Kyle holds certifications for PADI SCUBA Divemaster and Mares Service Technician. Further, he has received training from NOAA Fisheries in Marine Mammal Necropsy Sampling Protocols and Oil Response/Hazardous Communications.
